Excuses, Lies, and Inaction - An open letter to my Congressman

The situation in Lebanon is the result of many years of unconditional support for Israel, and over $42 million dollars in pro-Israel PAC money contributed to our Congressmen. It's time to do something about this. I would encourage all Americans to write to their Congressmen and let them know that enough is enough. If you don't want to write your own letter, feel free to copy and modify this one.

Mr. Martinez;

I note with alarm that the headlines on CNN this morning state the following:

Israeli attack kills 37 children
- Red Cross: 54 killed, including 37 children
- Israel: "tragedy," "mistake," Hezbollah targeted

You should be very proud of your lifetime pro-Israel PAC total of $43,500. You should be very proud of the manner in which the US has rushed additional bombs to our "friend and ally" Israel during this conflict. You should be very proud of the inaction of the US Congress in the matter of this conflict.

Your unconditional support of Israel has led to this situation. It's that simple.

I know you will try to use the excuse that "Hezbollah is hiding behind these civilians"; my response is that it is pure nonsense. Israel has been able to target Red Cross Ambulances with such precision that the missiles literally pierced the roofs of the ambulances dead center on the large red cross painted on the roof of the vehicle. They have been able to stage precision bombing of bridges, airport runways, and fuel facilities. No Mr. Martinez - this is not an issue of Terrorists hiding behind civilians.

Israel is using words like "tragedy" and "mistake" and has promised to investigate themselves once again - just as they are investigating why they shelled a UN Observation post killing unarmed UN Observers. No amount of sympathy or rhetoric from Israel or the US Congress can bring these children back.

Do you have children Mr. Martinez? Do you love them? Make no mistake - the blood of the 37 children killed through your actions and inaction is on your hands just as surely as it is upon the hands of the pilot who released the bomb that cut short their lives. Was the $43,500 worth the lives of these and the many other innocents who have died? Are you proud Mr. Martinez?

The American People are watching you.
